Phantom Adds Kalshi Prediction Markets Inside Its Crypto Wallet
The new experience, Predict, lets Phantom users wager on events without needing to leave its application. Kalshi is a CFTC registered exchange that performs customer verification, keeps trading accounts and carries out trades placed by customers. The software that’s connecting users through those markets is Phantom.Phantom is the software connecting users to those markets.
Initially, markets will include crypto, pro/college sports, economics, politics, AI and other up-to-the-minute events. One of the harsher offers is short-term Bitcoin pricing markets, such as contracts that might settle each 15 minutes, for crypto traders. This results in Phantom users having a format that’s much closer to the fast trading style that already exists in crypto markets.

Trading Works More Like a Token Swap
Phantom details the interface to be familiar to current wallet customers. Predictions can be covered with Phantom cash, and when they are fulfilled, the cash goes back on Phantoms. Phantom’s support documentation indicates that trades that are funded from a Cash account are gasless as well.
The markets feature live pricing, a feed of event data and a chat room where users can view sentiment as contract odds change. Existing Kalshi users can join their existing accounts or new users need to go through Kalshi’s identity verification process before they are able to trade.
CFTC Relief Cleared Phantom’s Route Into Regulated Markets
The launch is an outgrowth of a regulatory effort Phantom has already undertaken this year. CFTC’s Market Participants Division issued Staff Letter 26-09 on March 17, which postpones the implementation of broker registration requirements for certain activity until Phantom gets more specific.
Phantom is relieved about the ability to provide its self-custodial software solution to enable users to trade with registered derivatives market makers and exchanges without serving as a broker. Phantom later claimed it’s the first passive software provider to be granted such relief.
Prediction Markets Become a New Crypto Wallet Battleground
The Kalshi integration allows Phantom to grow beyond trading tokens and the wallet tagging to event-based markets.
This change is significant, as the speed at which prices move, their holding time, and the round-the-clock trading in such markets are becoming more aligned with crypto user habits.
Still limited availability in some areas. U.S. Kalshi prediction markets are not available in Michigan, Nevada and Washington, and some categories of contracts may be subject to further state restrictions, Phantom says.
The approach with Phantom is evolving into a future where trading poker, existing trading or anything else on the blockchain is conducted entirely within the app.
